Our Board

John Freymann is an active-duty Navy officer, currently serving at the U.S.
Naval Academy as a military professor in history. He has a B.S. in Optics from the University of
Rochester, a Ph.D. in the History of Christianity from the University of Chicago, and (only) four
bicycles. John and his wife, Melissa, are active parishioners of St. John the Evangelist Church.
They are raising and home-schooling four children, ranging in age from six to thirteen.

Larry Kirby is a graduate of Towson and Johns Hopkins Universities, husband of Kathy for 28 years,
and father of seven children ranging in age from 27 to nine years old. He is an active parishioner of
St. John the Evangelist, where he is involved with the “That Man is You” program. Larry was a founding board member and three-year participant of the Saint John Paul II Academy, a homeschooling cooperative. He works as a principal software engineer at The Kenjya-Trusant Group in Columbia, Maryland.

Lorraine Landerkin holds a BS degree in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland. She interned at NASA and began working at AMS, a high technology management consulting firm in 1989. At The Hunter Group, she traveled around the country and in Europe as a consultant working with companies from many sectors including government, college and universities, banking, manufacturing, utilities and non-profits. She and her husband Greg starting their own consulting firm in 1998 that is still operating today. Despite her effort to be a “stay at home Mom”, God called her to service to develop a Confirmation program for her local parish and later serve as Director of Information Systems there. She served on the Board of Walking With Purpose and started a chapter at St. Christopher’s Church. Lorraine loves spending time with her 5 children, ages 11 – 20, and husband of 22 years at their home on Kent Island.

Tara Pessia holds a Masters of Social Work from Widener University, and previously served as the Clinical Director for a youth residential treatment and foster care facility in the Baltimore area. Hailing from a tight-knit military family upbringing, Tara became a stay-at-home mom for her daughter and three sons beginning in 2005. She was introduced to STAT in 2016 when she began homeschooling her oldest son. Tara’s faith and dedication to family drive her to devote her time to volunteering with her parish (Our Lady of the Fields) and community organizations, including the Boy Scouts. She and her husband, John, have been married since 2001 and have lived in Crofton for the last 10 years.

Marie Richardson is a homeschool veteran of 13 years. She and her husband David have been married 20 years and have three daughters, ranging in age from 17 to 11 years old. A native of California, she accompanied David in his duties in the U.S. Navy around the country and overseas before settling 10 years ago in Maryland. She has been an active volunteer in the homeschool community and at her daughters’ various activities. Marie and her family recently moved to Arnold where they have become parishioners of St John the Evangelist.
