Karen Bonham is a wife and mother of five. Karen began homeschooling twelve years ago when her oldest child was in kindergarten. After homeschooling solely at home and then with the support of a homeschool tutorial, Karen enrolled her children at STAT in 2021 and has been delighted with the warm and welcoming community and the quality, faith-filled academics. Karen also works part time as a speech-language pathologist and volunteers as a catechist in a Catechesis of the Good Shepherd atrium.
Melinda Deras has been a part of STAT since 2015, when her family embarked upon their homeschooling journey. With three STAT grads and a current middle school student, Melinda and her husband of 20+ years, Leonel, are grateful for the support and community STAT has offered their family and for all they have learned alongside their children. After serving as director for four years, Melinda has greatly enjoyed teaching 8th grade humanities and Latin, and is excited to take on the role of curriculum director, as well. Outside of the classroom, Melinda enjoys reading, working on puzzles, pursuing language learning, and running. She is actively involved at her parish, St. Bernadette in Severn, where she particularly enjoys coordinating the Walking with Purpose program.
Jessica Peterson has been part of the STAT community since 2017 and is honored to now serve as Director. She is an active parishioner of St. John the Evangelist in Severna Park, where she has previously served as a coordinator of Vacation Bible School and Walking With Purpose.
